Jay Nelson began his career at the facility as the yardman and a floor tech, he was always a person with a watchful eye who paid attention to details. He has been a licensed administrator for the past 16 years.
His resident family members state that Jay has many fine attributes that are needed to fill the position of administrator. On a daily basis, he shows compassion, graciousness and a sincere appreciation for life itself. He runs an establishment that exemplifies these qualities in caring for a group of people that are dependent and demanding. He is very confident and capable in hiring personnel that helps attain success in this nursing home. He gives encouragement not only to the residents but to their families and inspires each as they travel this road together. He constantly demonstrates an attitude of respect and concern toward his staff and, perhaps more importantly, toward the residents and their families.
Jay's staff states that he is a very hard working and dedicated person. He takes the time to stop and give the residents his undivided attention when they want to talk with him. Whether it is a resident, family member or associate, he has an open door policy at all times and you know that you are always welcome to speak with him.
This poem was written for him by the staff:
More than a Boss!
There are so many words that we could use; To convey the thoughts that we have about you.
You're compassionate, charming, loyal, honest and especially fair. To your residents and associates, you give tender loving care.
You inspire us to be the best that we can be; you really are one of a kind. You motivate us to build from each others strengths and help us have peace of mind.
Peace of mind that we are all part of the Green Acres team.
A team that works together and wants to win at everything.
You always have an open door when sometimes one of us just needs to vent.
It's comforting to know that you listen to us when we complain with good intent.
You say you always know how to pick the best; the ones who will stick by you through think and thin. But to the sixteen people you meet with every morning, guess what, we choose you and would do it again and again.
That is why we are proud to say, to us, you are more than a boss; you are out friend!
After every “morning report committee” meeting that we have, there are three letters that he says. These three letters are TLC. Saying these letters lets us know that we are to deliver tender loving care to each other and to our residents with no exceptions.
Over his career, he has consistently kept the nursing home in regulatory compliance, provided quality care to his residents and maintained financial viability – all the necessary ingredients for a “successful administrator”.
Congratulations Jay, Administrator of the Year 2007. |
